PF SERIES TIPS:
Your PF is easily personalized
by decorating with acrylic paints. First buff the surface with some steel wool
to give the paint something to hang on to, then go ahead and "do your thing". A
final spray coat of clear acrylic will protect your custom paint job. Just be
careful not to interfere with the sound-producing mechanism.
Should
your PF suffer damage, it is easily repaired. Just use superglue. I use a
cyanoacrylate adhesive to put them together in the first place and it works
fine for repairs.
Please take a moment and explain if there is a
difference in the sound quality of a flute that I would purchase from you and a
flute that Nakai would use. I continually work to learn Nakai's recordings and
am looking for a flute that is true to the quality of his.
There
would be no difference. I put the same energy, experience, and ability into
each of my instruments. To do less would not be in the spirit of my work. I
have been accused by persons who should know better of reserving my best work
for Nakai, but this is simply not true, as well as being derogatory and even
insulting. It be unethical to do less than my best work for any of my
customers, who are paying their hard-earned $ for a flute and deserve as fine
an instrument as I can produce. There is a reason that I have the reputation
that I do, I have earned it. kl
I am also very interested in your Silver Edition
Flutes. Is there a difference in the quality of the sound because of the blank
used?
No. The difference is in appearance only. All my flutes are
of Montana western red cedar and the difference in tone from one to the next is
very subtle and in most cases negligible.
Is there a difference in the sound of the 22inch and
the 24 inch flute in F#? or is it merely a difference in size?
Mainly its just a difference in size. Sound quality is essentially the same. I
offer the 22" because it is a better fit for many people. As I developed my
different flute models, I made them for myself. I am 6'3" with long arms and
large hands, so the 24" fits me fine, but is too large for small persons to
comfortable hold and finger.
I also have a flute made of cedar by an artist other
that you, it is in the G tuning and seems to be very weak in its voice. It was
given to me as a gift and has brought me much joy. However I am very
dissatisfied with the sound quality.
Many beginning flutemakers
have not yet acquired the experience to produce a flute with a bright, clear
voice. There are many elements of the sound-producing parts of the flute that
are not yet understood. Many artists are able to produce a beautiful looking
flute, but there are few who understand how to really make them sing. There are
many flutes gathering dust on many walls.
