Can I bring my spouse/partner who will not participate in the workshop?

Fees for all non-workshop accompanying spouses etc. will be as follows:

Housing option
Cost
Tent camping*
$500
Shared lodge
$700
Shared cabin
$1000

The cost includes three meals a day. Please note that housing is limited and workshop participants will be given priority.

How much free time will there be?

We try to schedule some free into the busy four-day workshop itinerary, but days are quite busy with both morning and afternoon classes as well as evening presentations and special activities. We meet in large group for some classes, then break-out into smaller groups for specific interest and experience-level activities. First year participants may attend some of R. Carlos' advanced classes with instructor permission and performance/proficiency in TABlature. So, please come prepared to work, but ready to have a lot of fun!

What flutes should I bring?

Bring whatever you play! A PF-Series flute is required for R. Carlos' Methods classes. . If you are registering for RNAF 2015 and do not have a PF flute, please let us know on your registration form and we will offer you 15% of the cost of your PF order. A PF-Series flute is required for R. Carlos' Methods classes.

What should I pack?

All bedding and towels are provided for all guests staying in the Main Lodge or a cabin. Bedding is not provided if you are tent camping, but towels will be available for bathing in the Main Lodge. Plan on wearing informal, comfortable clothing. You will probably want sturdy shoes for light hiking and walking. Evenings will be cool, so you will want some warmer clothes. We will also be taking a field trip to the caves on the Blacktail property; It will be very cool in the caves so plan to dress appropriately. The weather in Western Montana can be highly variable, even in August, so make sure to bring appropriate rain gear. If you choose the tent camping option, plan on the possibility of rain (perhaps pack a tarp to throw over or string up over your tent for extra rain protection). Average August high/low temperature for Wolf Creek is 85 degrees F/54 degrees F (29 degrees C/12 degrees C).

What is the best way to travel to Wolf Creek Montana?

Wolf Creek is a small, unincorporated community about half-way between the cities of Great Falls and Helena. It is ~55 miles to Helena and ~65 to Great Falls. If flying, you will be flying into Great Falls International Airport or Helena Regional Airport (less likely). The Blacktail Ranch staff will provide shuttle service to and from GF International Airport for $100. Please share your flight information with the event coordinator for Amon Olorin Flutes (rnaf2015@gmail.com) so we may coordinate ride sharing. Rental cars are also available (see airport websites for details). For driving directions use the Blacktail Ranch address: 4440 South Fork Trail, Wolf Creek, MT 59648. The Blacktail Ranch website provides a google map. Since Blacktail is a bit off the beaten path, please plan on bringing everything you will need with you. Necessary trips into town can be arranged.

Can the kitchen staff accommodate my special dietary needs?

Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs on your registration form. The creative chefs and dining room staff at Blacktail Ranch are happy to accommodate vegetarians, vegans, non-dairy, gluten-free, diets and any other dietary needs you may have. Just be sure to let us know in advance!

Can Blacktail accommodate early arrivals/late departures?

At the time of this post, Blacktail Ranch may be able to accommodate early arrivals. There is a group booked after us though, so they probably cannot have late departures. If you are interested in additional bookings please contact Blacktail Ranch directly to discuss availability and non-group rate, personal payment. Please note you may not be able to stay in the same accommodations the entire time. If you do arrange additional bookings, please notify the event coordinator at Amon Olorin Flutes and they will try to arrange it so you can stay in the same accommodations the entire time (if you wish).
